NL – Karel Coninx (altviool)
Karel Coninx begon op vijfjarige leeftijd met vioolspelen bij Valentijn Ten Haaf in Hasselt en gaf al snel zijn eerste soloconcerten onder diens leiding. Hij behaalde de Gouden Medaille aan het Conservatorium van Hasselt met Grootste Onderscheiding en zette vervolgens zijn studies voort aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, eerst voor viool bij Urszula Gorniak en daarna voor altviool bij Paul Declerck. Na het behalen van zijn Meesterdiploma verbleef hij twee jaar in de Verenigde Staten, waar hij een Performance Diploma behaalde aan het Chicago College of Performing Arts in de klas van Roger Chase.
Gedurende zijn opleiding deed Karel orkestervaring op bij de Jeugdorkesten van Limburg, Vlaanderen, België, Ierland en Nederland, alsook bij het Brussels Chamber Orchestra en het Vlaams Radio-Orkest. In de Verenigde Staten werd hij lid van het Civic Orchestra of Chicago (het opleidingsorkest van het prestigieuze Chicago Symphony Orchestra, met gastdirigenten als Bernard Haitink en Esa-Pekka Salonen) en concerteerde hij met het Green Bay Symphony Orchestra.
Geleidelijk aan legde Karel zich toe op kamermuziek en vervolmaakte hij zich bij gerenommeerde docenten en kwartetten zoals Shmuel Ashkenazy en Richard Young (Vermeer Quartet), Guy Danel (Quatuor Danel), Václav Remeš en Josef Klusoň (Pražák Quartet), en Jerzy Kapłanek, Christine Vlajk, Jeremy Bell en Simon Fryer (Penderecki Quartet). Hij trad op in België, Nederland, Luxemburg, Frankrijk, Duitsland, Ierland, het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Italië, Spanje, Portugal, Kroatië, Bulgarije Letland, Libanon, Mexico, IJsland, Zwitserland, Turkije, Zuid-Afrika, Canada, Noorwegen, Zweden, Rusland, Roemenië, de Verenigde Staten en China, met ensembles zoals Musiques Nouvelles, ECO (European Contemporary Orchestra), Casco Phil, Brussels Chamber Orchestra, iPalpiti, Champ d’Action, Quatuor MP4 en The Colorist Orchestra.
In duo met Claire Bourdet was hij te gast op het Faulkner Chamber Music Festival (VS) en soleerde hij met het Nationaal Symfonieorkest van Libanon in Beiroet. Hun programma Dialogues werd door de Vlaamse Gemeenschap ondersteund in het kader van Jong Talent.
Sinds 2013 organiseren Claire en Karel « TW Classics 1190 », een gratis kamermuziekreeks in GC Ten Weyngaert, het Vlaams gemeenschapscentrum van Vorst in Brussel. Samen richtten zij ook Minibus Music op, een organisatie die muzikale projecten ontwikkelt voor een divers publiek in Brussel.
Karel werkt mee aan opnames en concerten in uiteenlopende genres, met artiesten als Adamo, Angèle, Björk, Stef Bos, John Cale, Clouseau, Bruno Coulais, Hooverphonic, Einstürzende Neubauten, Zita Swoon Group, Tamino, Emiliana Torrini, The Cinematic Orchestra en The Colorist Orchestra. Hij is stichtend lid van het SunSunSun String Orchestra, een kwintet dat de brug slaat tussen klassieke hedendaagse muziek en popmuziek.
Via zijn engagement bij het Zenne Quartet deelt Karel zijn liefde voor de diversiteit en het surrealisme van Brussel, de stad die hij tot zijn thuis heeft gemaakt.

Karel Coninx a commencé le violon à l’âge de cinq ans auprès de Valentijn Ten Haaf à Hasselt, et a rapidement donné ses premiers concerts en soliste sous sa direction. Il obtient la Médaille d’Or du Conservatoire de Hasselt avec mention Plus Grande Distinction, puis poursuit ses études au Koninklijk Conservatorium de Bruxelles, d’abord au violon avec Urszula Gorniak, ensuite à l’alto avec Paul Declerck. Après l’obtention de son Meesterdiploma, il se rend aux États-Unis et obtient un Performance Diploma au Chicago College of Performing Arts dans la classe de Roger Chase.
Tout au long de sa formation, Karel a acquis une solide expérience orchestrale en Belgique et à l’international, notamment au sein des Orchestres de Jeunes du Limbourg, de Flandre, de Belgique, d’Irlande et des Pays-Bas, ainsi qu’avec le Brussels Chamber Orchestra et le Vlaams Radio-Orkest. Aux États-Unis, il intègre le Civic Orchestra of Chicago (orchestre de formation du prestigieux Chicago Symphony Orchestra, avec des chefs invités tels que Bernard Haitink et Esa-Pekka Salonen) et donne des concerts avec le Green Bay Symphony Orchestra.
Progressivement, Karel s’oriente vers la musique de chambre, développant son activité avec des enseignants et ensembles prestigieux tels que Shmuel Ashkenazy et Richard Young (Quatuor Vermeer), Guy Danel (Quatuor Danel), Vaclav Remes et Josef Kluson (Quatuor Prazak), Jerzy Kaplanek, Christine Vlajk, Jeremy Bell et Simon Fryer (Quatuor Penderecki). Il se produit en Belgique, aux Pays-Bas, au Luxembourg, en France, en Allemagne, en Irlande, au Royaume-Uni, en Italie, en Espagne, au Portugal, en Croatie, en Bulgarie, en Lettonie, au Liban, au Mexique, en Islande, en Suisse, en Turquie, en Afrique du Sud, au Canada, en Norvège, en Suède, en Russie, en Roumanie, aux États-Unis et en Chine, avec des ensembles tels que Musiques Nouvelles, ECO (European Contemporary Orchestra), Casco Phil, Brussels Chamber Orchestra, iPalpiti, Champ d’Action, Quatuor Cordis, Quatuor MP4 et The Colorist Orchestra.
En duo avec Claire Bourdet, il est invité au Faulkner Chamber Music Festival (États-Unis) et en tant que soliste avec l’Orchestre national du Liban à Beyrouth. Leur programme Dialogues a bénéficié du soutien de la Communauté Flamande en tant que Jeune Talent.
Depuis 2013, Claire et Karel organisent « TW Classics 1190 », une série de musique de chambre gratuite à GC Ten Weyngaert, le centre communautaire Flamand de Forest, à Bruxelles, et ont cofondé Minibus Music, une structure qui développe des projets musicaux pour un public diversifié à Bruxelles.

Karel Coninx began playing the violin at age five under the guidance of Valentijn Ten Haaf in Hasselt, soon giving his first solo performances under his direction. He was awarded the Gold Medal with Highest Distinction from the Hasselt Conservatory, continuing his studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel—first in violin with Urszula Gorniak, then in viola with Paul Declerck. After obtaining his Master’s degree, he spent two years in the United States, earning a Performance Diploma from the Chicago College of Performing Arts in the class of Roger Chase.
Throughout his training, Karel gained orchestral experience both in Belgium and abroad, performing with youth orchestras across Limburg, Flanders, Belgium, Ireland, and the Netherlands, as well as with the Brussels Chamber Orchestra and the Flemish Radio Orchestra. In the United States, he became a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (the training orchestra of the prestigious Chicago Symphony Orchestra, led by guest conductors such as Bernard Haitink and Esa-Pekka Salonen) and performed with the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra.
Gradually shifting focus toward chamber music, Karel honed his craft with distinguished mentors and quartets, including Shmuel Ashkenazy and Richard Young (Vermeer Quartet), Guy Danel (Danel Quartet), Václav Remeš and Josef Klusoň (Pražák Quartet), and Jerzy Kapłanek, Christine Vlajk, Jeremy Bell, and Simon Fryer (Penderecki String Quartet). He has performed across Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Ireland, the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lebanon, Mexico, Iceland, Switzerland, Turkey, South Africa, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Romania, the United States, and China with ensembles such as Musiques Nouvelles, ECO (European Contemporary Orchestra), Casco Phil, Brussels Chamber Orchestra, iPalpiti, Champ d’Action, Quatuor MP4, and The Colorist Orchestra.
In a duo with Claire Bourdet, he was invited to the Faulkner Chamber Music Festival in the US and performed as a soloist with the Lebanese National Philharmonic Orchestra in Beirut. Their project Dialogues received Young Talent support from the Flemish Community.
Since 2013, Claire and Karel have organized “TW Classics 1190,” a free chamber music concert series at GC Ten Weyngaert, the Flemish community center in Forest, Brussels. They also co-founded Minibus Music, an organization developing outreach music projects across Brussels.
Karel frequently participates in studio recordings and live concerts across a variety of genres, collaborating with artists including Salvatore Adamo, Angèle, Björk, Stef Bos, John Cale, Clouseau, Bruno Coulais, Hooverphonic, Einstürzende Neubauten, Zita Swoon Group, Tamino, Emiliana Torrini, The Cinematic Orchestra, and The Colorist Orchestra. He is a founding member of the SunSunSun String Orchestra, a quintet bridging the gap between classical contemporary and pop music.
Through his involvement with the Zenne Quartet, Karel shares his love for the diversity and surrealism of Brussels, the city he has made his home.
日本 – 5歳の時にハッセルトでTen Haaf 氏のもとヴァイオリンを始め、すぐに彼の指揮のもと、オーケストラのソリストとしてデビュー。ハッセルトの音楽院で最優秀賞の金賞を受賞、その後ブリュッセル王立音楽大学（フラマン語圏）で学ぶ。

パートナーのクレールとのデュオで、アメリカのFaulkner Chamber Music Festival音楽祭に招待された他、ソリストとしてレバノンのベイルートで、レバノンナショナルオーケストラと共演。このデュオDialoguesはフラマン圏コミュニティーの協賛を得ている。
2013年よりクレールと共にオーガナイザーとして室内楽のコンサートシリーズ、「TWクラシック1190」を開催している。
キャレルはクラシック音楽だけに留まらず、多岐のジャンルに渡ってコンサートや録音で演奏活動を行っている。（例がいっぱい）
