NL – Karel Coninx volgde zijn eerste vioollessen op vijfjarige leeftijd bij Valentijn Ten Haaf te Hasselt, en speelde al gauw zijn eerste solistenconcerten onder diens leiding. Aan het Stedelijk Conservatorium van Hasselt behaalde hij de Gouden Stadsmedaille met Grootste Onderscheiding, om vervolgens zijn studies voort te zetten aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel, eerst op viool bij Urszula Gorniak, later op altviool bij Paul Declerck. Na het behalen van zijn Meesterdiploma trok Karel voor twee jaar naar de Verenigde Staten, waar hij een Performance Diploma behaalde aan het Chicago College of Performing Arts, in de klas van Roger Chase.
Doorheen zijn opleiding deed Karel orkestervaring op als lid van de jeugdorkesten van Limburg, Vlaanderen, België, Ierland & Nederland, bij het Brussels Chamber Orchestra en bij het Vlaams Radio-Orkest. Tijdens zijn verblijf in de V.S. werd hij lid van het Civic Orchestra of Chicago (officieel opleidingsorkest van het prestigieuze Chicago Symphony Orchestra, met als gastdirigenten o.a. Bernard Haitink en Esa Pekka-Salonen) en speelde concerten met het Greenbay Symphony Orchestra.
Gaandeweg ontdekte hij een voorliefde voor kamermuziek, waarin hij zich specialiseerde dankzij onderricht van Shmuel Ashkenazy & Richard Young (Vermeer Quartet), Guy Danel (Quatuor Danel), Vaclav Remes & Josef Kluson (Prazak Quartet), Jerzy Kaplanek, Christine Vlajk, Jeremy Bell & Simon Fryer (Penderecki Quartet).
Hij speelde concerten in Belgie, Nederland, Luxemburg, Frankrijk, Duitsland, Ierland, het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Italie, Spanje, Portugal, Turkije, Letland, Ijsland, Noorwegen, Zweden, Zwitserland, Roemenië, Libanon, Mexico, Canada, de Verenigde Staten, Zuid-Afrika, Rusland en China, als aanvoerder altviolen van Brussels Chamber Orchestra, Magogo Kamerorkest, CCPA Symphony Orchestra, Ataneres Ensemble, European Contemporary Orchestra, Timur und Seine Mannschaft, of in kamerensembles Musiques Nouvelles, Champ d’Action, Cordis Quartet, Quatuor MP4, The Colorist Orchestra, Casco Phil, I Palpiti Soloists, …
In duo met violiste Claire Bourdet was Karel te gast op het Faulkner Chamber Music Festival (USA) en als solistenduo met het Nationaal Orkest van Libanon in Beiroet. Hun programma “Dialogen” genoot steun als Jong Talent in het Aanbod Podium van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap. In 2013 lanceerden Claire en Karel samen TW Classics 1190 – een gratis kamermuziekreeks in Gemeenschapscentrum Ten Weyngaert in hun woonplaats Vorst.
Karel werkte mee aan opname-sessies en live-concerten in uiteenlopende genres. Hij speelde aan de zijde van Adamo, Björk, Stef Bos, John Cale, Clouseau, Hooverphonic, Einstürzende Neubauten, Tamino, Zita Swoon Group, Cinematic Orchestra, … Hij ligt mee aan de basis van het Sun*Sun*Sun String Orkestra – een strijkkwintet dat bruggen slaat tussen hedendaagse klassieke en avontuurlijk popmuziek, en is lid van The Colorist Orchestra.
Karel won prijzen in de Kiwanis-wedstrijd en in het Scolarta Muziekconcours.
FR – Karel Coninx a suivi ses premiers cours de violon à l’âge de cinq ans auprès de Valentijn Ten Haaf à Hasselt, et a bientôt joué ses premiers concerts en soliste sous sa direction. Il obtient la Médaille d’Or du Conservatoire de Hasselt avec mention Plus Grande Distinction, puis poursuit ses études au Koninklijk Conservatorium de Bruxelles, d’abord au violon auprès de Urszula Gorniak, ensuite à l’alto auprès de Paul Declerck. Après l’obtention de son Meesterdiploma, Karel est allé aux États-Unis pendant deux ans, où il a obtenu un Performance Diploma au Chicago College of Performing Arts, dans la classe de Roger Chase.
Tout au long de sa formation, Karel a acquis une expérience d’orchestre en tant que membre des Orchestres de Jeunes du Limbourg, de Flandre, de Belgique, d’Irlande et des Pays-Bas, ainsi qu’avec le Brussels Chamber Orchestra et le Vlaams Radio-Orkest. Pendant son séjour aux États-Unis il devient membre du Civic Orchestra of Chicago (orchestre de formation du prestigieux Chicago Symphony Orchestra, avec des chefs invités dont Bernard Haitink et Esa Pekka-Salonen) et a donné des concerts avec le Greenbay Symphony Orchestra.
Progressivement, il s’est découvert une prédilection pour la musique de chambre, qu’il a développée en suivant les enseignements de Shmuel Ashkenazy et Richard Young (Quatuor Vermeer), Guy Danel (Quatuor Danel), Vaclav Remes et Josef Kluson (Quatuor Prazak), Jerzy Kaplanek, Christine Vlajk, Jeremy Bell & Simon Fryer (Quatuor Penderecki).

En duo avec la violoniste Claire Bourdet, Karel a été invité au Faulkner Chamber Music Festival (États-Unis) et en tant que solistes avec l’Orchestre national du Liban à Beyrouth. Leur programme “Dialogues” a bénéficié de soutien de la Communauté Flamande en tant que Jeune Talent. Depuis 2013, Claire et Karel organisent «TW Classics 1190» – une série de musique de chambre gratuite à GC Ten Weyngaert, le centre communautaire Flamand dans leur quartier à Forest, dans le sud de Bruxelles.
Karel collabore souvent à des séances d’enregistrement et à des concerts dans des genres très variés. Il a joué avec Adamo, Björk, Stef Bos, John Cale, Clouseau, Hooverphonic, Einstürzende Neubauten, Zita Swoon Group, Cinematic Orchestra, The Colorist Orchestra, Eriksson-Delcroix, … Il est un des membres fondateurs du Sun*Sun*Sun String Orchestra – un quintette à cordes qui explore les ponts entre la musique contemporaine classique et la musique pop aventureuse.
Karel a remporté des prix au concours Kiwanis et au concours musical Scolarta.
EN – Karel Coninx took his first violin lessons at the age of five with Valentijn Ten Haaf in Hasselt, and soon performed his first solo concerts under his direction. He obtained the Gold Medal from the Hasselt Conservatory with the highest distinction, then continued his studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels, first on the violin with Urszula Gorniak, then on the viola with Paul Declerck. After obtaining his Meesterdiploma, Karel went to the United States for two years, where he obtained a Performance Diploma from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, in the class of Roger Chase.
Throughout his training, Karel gained orchestral experience as a member of the Youth Orchestras of Limburg, Flanders, Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands, as well as with the Brussels Chamber Orchestra and the Vlaams Radio-Orkest. During his stay in the United States he became a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (training orchestra of the prestigious Chicago Symphony Orchestra, with guest conductors including Bernard Haitink and Esa Pekka-Salonen) and gave concerts with the Greenbay Symphony Orchestra.

In duo with violinist Claire Bourdet, Karel has been invited to the Faulkner Chamber Music Festival (United States) and as soloists with the Lebanese National Orchestra in Beirut. Their “Dialogues” program received support from the Flemish Community as a Young Talent. Since 2013, Claire and Karel have been organizing “TW Classics 1190” – a free chamber music series at GC Ten Weyngaert, the Flemish community center in their neighborhood in Forest, in the south of Brussels.
In addition to classical music, Karel often collaborates in recording sessions and concerts in other genres. He has performed with Adamo, Björk, Stef Bos, John Cale, Clouseau, Hooverphonic, Einstürzende Neubauten, Zita Swoon Group, Cinematic Orchestra, The Colorist Orchestra, Eriksson-Delcroix, … He is one of the founding members of the Sun*Sun*Sun String Orchestra – a string quintet that explores the bridges between classical contemporary music and adventurous pop music.

日本 – 5歳の時にハッセルトでTen Haaf 氏のもとヴァイオリンを始め、すぐに彼の指揮のもと、オーケストラのソリストとしてデビュー。ハッセルトの音楽院で最優秀賞の金賞を受賞、その後ブリュッセル王立音楽大学（フラマン語圏）で学ぶ。
まずヴァイオリンをUrszula Gorniak氏、そしてビオラをPaul Declerckに学ぶ。大学院を卒業後、渡米しルーズベルト大学シカゴ校のパフォーミングアーツ音楽院に入学。Roger Chase氏のクラスでパフォーマンスディプロマを取得。

パートナーのクレールとのデュオで、アメリカのFaulkner Chamber Music Festival音楽祭に招待された他、ソリストとしてレバノンのベイルートで、レバノンナショナルオーケストラと共演。このデュオDialoguesはフラマン圏コミュニティーの協賛を得ている。
2013年よりクレールと共にオーガナイザーとして室内楽のコンサートシリーズ、「TWクラシック1190」を開催している。
キャレルはクラシック音楽だけに留まらず、多岐のジャンルに渡ってコンサートや録音で演奏活動を行っている。（例がいっぱい）
